Thanks, lovey. I just got into bed after my first 3 hour long improv class. I don't remember the last time my body felt so tired. It was good to move. It was better to start relearning how to play like a little kid again. I loved it. And it was hard, too. Bed never felt better! xo
Hey, Kim! It was EXHAUSTING! I'm still tired. I just got up from a little nap. I hardly ever do that. Maybe one day, I'll be fantastic at it, but not yet. It was very awkward and overwhelming for me, but also fun and full of laughter. It takes a lot of concentration and memory to do it. But it's great to be moving around again. We'll see what happens. I'm taking this experience one class at a time. xo!
I am not surprised that Nan is your first pick for Fascinated, and I am so thankful! I have learned more about Nan and love the way in which you have celebrated her authentic being.
Wow, thank you. What a kind compliment. Nan's authenticity is the thing that drew me to her, the thing that makes me trust who she shows up as in the Substack world, and one of the many reasons why I find her so fascinating. Thanks for reading!
Thank you, Michele. And now, you've been introduced to Jess Greenwood (I'm assuming here, of course). She's the real deal. Highly recommend reading her if you don't already. xo
Isn't it lovely the way we overlap and find each other. Producing the slam is putting me in touch with all kinds of fabulous people and writers. It's a treasure trove. xo
It really is. I am pretty sure I found you when you were looking for tattoo stories to share some time ago. Look where you are now! Kickin' ass even more ♥
That's right! It is how we met. I'm here. Now. Kicking ass, I guess? I'm certainly have the best time ever. I'm getting more brave. First improv class starts in 57 minutes. GULP. xo
That's the Nan I know and love! Aren't we all just a bundle of contradictions that make sense when you look close enough? And Nan is willing to look and sit with them. Sometimes, she makes me laugh so hard that we both have tears. Enough talking ABOUT Nan. Here's to Nan: I love you with my whole heart, which is as big as the sky. I love your courage, your wit, and your intelligence. I love your give-a-shit-ness. I love the way you are ALWAYS supporting people, their creativity, their Substacks, creating community - all the time. I love how passionate you are, how you sweat the small stuff and let it go at the same time. I simply love you.
I want to take this, make a graphic of it, and hang it in a prominent place, where I can refer to it whenever I'd like. Mostly to remind myself of the radiant impact you make on my life. I simply love you right back. Thank you, Substack for bringing Susan Kacvinsky into my life. What a fucking blessing that is. xo
LOVE you, my dear. Jazmine Becerra Green published a post a little while ago, titled "Wham Bam Thank You, Nan!" Holy moly. I've been crying for 24 hours. xo
Oh, you just sparkle, Nan! Thank you, Jess, for this, well, fascinating, look at all that makes Nan her smart and funny and wise and beautifully vulnerable human self. xo
Nan, you don't need me to make you feel good. That feeling good is hard-won, I know. It comes from inside you, because you have opened yourself to being who you are, heart and soul and brain and the whole luscious package! xo
You are (yummy that is) in all of the best possible ways. :)
Maybe I'll gather all of my courage and venture back to NYC one of these days. It's been a long time since I was there, and I have a hankering to walk the High Line park. But so many people all in one place! So much noise and confusion! Still, it would be a delight to meet you IRL. xo
I don't live in NYC. I gave it up 34 years ago. I live 100 miles north. I'm about 10 miles from famous Woodstock. I can't stand the city anymore, though the High Line is impressive. The city has changed SO much since I lived there. You're welcome any time! xo
Yay for you! I imagine that you can get to the city when you want, and you get the benefits of a slower pace and more peace and quiet if you want them, plus more space at a price you can afford. I just assumed you lived in the city because you have that amazing city energy. :)
Thanks, Rona! I love that line, too. There's a lot of goodies in that post. It made me cry when I read it and watched Jess's videos. I feel so lucky to have landed in the Substack garden. xo
Thank you for being you Nan-fascinating fun fierce fabulous family…
Great presentation
So human
💥🌟❤️🔥
Thank you so much for reading. I just love that your comment was “so human.” Nan is so unequivocally human, and I love that that came through for you.
Thanks, Prajna! xo
Nan! You are endlessly fascinating. And original. And sassafrassy. And crawling into bed at the end of each day is ULTIMATE joy. Amen!

Oh! I hope you're extra nice to yourself today. Improv is so fun... and cathartic. Bravo for diving in! I bet you're fantastic at it.

I did know and follow her, but it is lovely to see the Substack pages/worlds coming together. 😊

In my humble opinion, doing something when you're nervous is a perfect example of kicking ass 💪

Oh my... now my eyes are stinging. I hope this post on you garners so many expressions of love it's overwhelming.
May the tears water your joy.

Just used this as an excuse to watch her excellent story again, and of course, to restack her post...
Thanks! She’s great. Another L.A. person! xo

SO much to unpack there that was, truly, fascinating. Thank you for reading!
Great job unpacking, I say. :)
I second that! xo
You are such a boon to my ego, Susan. Your comments always make me feel so good. PS. And check out Jess’s stack, The Joy Luck Club.
I guaranteed Jess will make you happy every single Wednesday. I always learn something essential when I read her. xo

See! You did it again. I really want to meet you one of these days, Susan J Tweit.
I love the word luscious as a descriptor. Yummy me! xo

Isn’t she though? Thanks for reading!
Thank you, lovey! xo
“From talk to shock:” love that, and Nan. Jess, you’ve captured all the reasons.
Thank you kindly. Nan makes fascinating look easy. ;)
You're so good to me, Jess. xo
