It's Time for The Love Boat
I did a thing on Saturday. I ran my second story slam
Hey all! I’m offering something a little different today, the thing I’m most excited about, the thing I love. I’d be reading to you today, but I’m down with a cold, and you don’t want to see my red, runny nose, and I sound terrible. Here’s the deal.
I’m a storyteller. And guess what? You’re one, too. We’re all storytellers.
Storytelling is all I can think about and I’ll be talking about it more often. Some of you know about my project already, some of you might not.
I’m talking about Wham! Bam! Thank You! Slam! and the work I’ve been doing to create this project in recent months.
I’ve identified this passion more clearly in the last couple of years writing on Substack, and I’m figuring out what the next right thing might be for me. The one thing I do know is it fills me with joy.
I’ll keep you in the loop as I figure things out.
But for now, enjoy this collection of stories told by 13 wonderful Substack writers who came to together on Saturday to share their 4-minute love stories.
The Love Boat, our alt-Valentines Day Romp!
If you don’t want to watch the show in it’s entirety, you’ll find each storyteller’s 4-minute story, in order of appearance, as you scroll down the page. Enjoy!
I was a little mortified at how long I went on at the beginning of the show, and won’t be insulted IN THE least if you skip that part!
We kicked the show off with a warm-up by Eileen Dougharty, my always partner-in-slam. Eileen knows how to get things started.
And now, an interlude from ZoomaMella, more commonly known to all of us as Mel Moseley, who publishes Mel’s Messy Love Lab. Mel is our wonder woman in the Zoom room, and helps Nan run the show. And, she’s a damn good storyteller.
To see the whole thing the day it happens, the banter, the intros, the energy and appreciation of our live audience on Zoom. You can buy a ticket. March will go on sale by the end of the week. Or you may find that you love what you see so much, that you decide to become a paid subscriber to Wham! Bam! Thank You! Slam! You’ll get a free ticket to every live show, every month. You’ll get 12 shows for the price of 10.
If you’re a writer on Substack and don’t identify as male you can tell a story if you don’t identify as male. If you want to jump in, DM me!
