“There are no dues or fees for subscribers. The only requirement is a desire to read The Next Write Thing!”—As a fellow friend of Bill W., I appreciate your cleverness. 😉 And I always appreciate a free Substack. I’ve started paywalling my most personal posts about infertility, adoption, and mental health because I can’t deal with the insensitive comments of internet trolls. But I try to keep a majority of my writing free and available for everyone.
I understand the need for some kind of boundary, and you make a good point. My partner is very protective, and doesn't want me to be hurt by the trolls. I'll see how it goes, but for now, this model is the one I want to pursue. I won't just be writing about recovery, but I love the idea of keeping the paid status as a voluntary one. I'm very good at using the delete, block, and ban functions that Substack provides. Thanks so much for taking the time to read, and comment! I'll check out your newsletter, Liz.
Thank you for your contribution to the world of healing and living well. You are helping me reveal my "muchness" to myself and others. It's new and I love it!
Thank you for this. My first quick look last week was that I had to pay to read, and as you know, well... then when I came back and realized that there's a way to be a subscriber without having to pay, I did joyfully. The other reason this post brings happy tears is this: "When I look at my face in the mirror now, I see a beautiful person smiling back at me, and that person is me. It’s extraordinary." Such a journey. I'm verklempt!
