I hear you. It's amazing the stories you can tell, once you get into the groove. Write the story at length, then get out your red pencil and start cutting. It really is a wonderful skill to getting to the bottom line of the story. I sometimes think of it as telling a story in bullet points. And when you're telling a story, you have the benefit of using facial expressions, your voice, inflection and emphasis. It really is an exercise in show, don't tell. We are planning on an education element as an offering, too. There's a learning curve to everything in life. My next goal is to learn how to tell a story without my notes, or script...because I'd like to do The Moth one of these days. It's all a fun adventure and a wonderful way to connect. Oh, cool... I am definitely be up for the "education element" - great add-on idea! Remember watching Def Poetry Jam on HBO waaaaay back in the day? And The Moth - always floored by how people can not just remember their story, but internalize and externalize the words. You're videos are great, the The Moth would be lucky to have you and it's always good to have goals! In the meantime, I'm gonna bust out my red pencil!

The shows will be on Zoom, and all of the 4-minute stories will be recorded on video, and then shared in a post when the event is over. You can attend the live show on Zoom by buying a ticket or becoming either a monthly or annual paid subscriber. OR you can look at our schedule and tell a story at one of the slams.
